Final Cast for Broadway's Avenue Q Starts Tonight July 6th

This is a show that I wanted to hate as I sat down in the theater with a big puss on my face that eventually turned into a great big smile and huge belly laughs! That show is "Ave Q"!! 9 to 5's Ann Harada, who created the character of Christmas Eve in the surprise Tony Award-winning puppet musical Avenue Q(it beat out Wicked for best musical in 2004), returns to that role in the acclaimed production at Broadway's Golden Theatre tonight, July 6.

The 8 PM performance tonight also welcomes several cast members from the shows recent national tour: Anika Larsen (Xanadu, All Shook Up, Rent; Shafrika, the White Girl) is Broadway's new Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut, Robert McClure (I'm Not Rapport) assumes the roles of Princeton/Rod and Danielle K. Thomas plays Gary Coleman.
They all join a cast that includes Christian Anderson, Jennifer Barnhart and Nicholas Kohn.
Avenue Q will mark its sixth anniversary on Broadway July 31 and will play its final performance at the John Golden Theatre Sept. 13.
Avenue Q features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, a book by Jeff Whitty and direction by Jason Moore.

The trials and tribulations of the people (and puppets) in the neighborhood.
Tony-winning musical Avenue Q is the hilarious and heartfelt story of a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York with big dreams and little money. He can only afford to live on Avenue Q but—good news!—his neighbors turn out to be a remarkably funny bunch of characters.

Avenue Q Set To Close On September 13

This is truly a sad day. One of my favorite shows and one of Broadway's most unexpected hits in recent years is saying goodbye. I am of course talking about the 2004 Tony Award winner for Best Musical Avenue Q.

When it closes it will have played 33 previews and 2,534 performances. Not too bad for a show that most people thought would barely last a couple of years.

I've had the pleasure of seeing this hilarious show over the years and I can't believe it will no longer be around. The show was the first Broadway show my parents ever saw and they loved it. In fact they still talk about the show to this day and it's been over five years. I guess it made a lasting impression.

If you haven't seen Avenue Q yet than you don't know what you are missing. You have got to see it before it is too late. For those of you lucky people like me who loved the show then I think it's time to check it out again. Maybe if tickets sales increase it will encourage the producers of the show to keep it around a little longer. It worked with Rent. Maybe it will this time too.

Below Face Value Prices For "Ave Q"

AVENUE Q is Broadway's hilarious, Tony-winning musical about real life in NYC. When it broke onto the scene in 2003, theatergoers and critics had never seen anything quite like AVENUE Q which started off-off Broadway. An outrageously smart musical comedy with a cast of people and puppets? WHAT!? But as word spread that AVENUE Q was "one of the funniest shows you're ever likely to see" (Ent. Weekly), this deliciously naughty musical became the most-quoted musical at water coolers and nail salons in history. Then it surprised everyone by grabbing the elusive Tony Triple Crown: BEST MUSICAL, BEST SCORE and BEST BOOK! Part flesh, part felt and packed with heart, AVENUE Q is simply UNMISSABLE! Not a show for the kiddies folks!

Applause Theatre Service has a great deal this Summer on this long running hit show! Below Face Value! How's that for a deal? Call now to take advantage of this special offer at 800-451-9930

Ann Harada Gets Ready to Return to Broadway's "Avenue Q"

One of the great surprises for me was the musical "Avenue Q". Before I even saw the show I hated it for beating one of my all time favorite musicals "Wicked" for the 2004 Tony Award as Best Musical. I said how could this be? An adult Sesame Street type musical with puppets beats the great musical "Wicked"? Well I avoided the show for sometime and finally gave in and saw what I found to be one of the funniest musicals ever with really clever music! Do I think it deserved to win over Wicked? No way! But I definitely enjoyed it and the show continues to sell extremely well. I highly recommend this show wholeheartedly!

Now comes word that 9 to 5's wonderful character actress Ann Harada (who's really wasted in 9 to 5), who created the character of Christmas Eve in the Tony Award-winning musical, will return to that role in the acclaimed production at Broadway's Golden Theatre July 6.
That day will also welcome several cast members from the shows recent national tour: Anika Larsen (Xanadu, All Shook Up, Rent; the upcoming Shafrika, the White Girl) will be Broadway's new Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut, Robert McClure (I'm Not Rapport) will assume the roles of Princeton/Rod and Danielle K. Thomas will play Gary Coleman.
They will all join a cast that includes Christian Anderson, Jennifer Barnhart and Nicholas Kohn.

Avenue Q will mark its sixth anniversary on Broadway July 31.

Avenue Q features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, a book by Jeff Whitty and direction by Jason Moore. The musical is produced by Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman, Jeffrey Seller, The Vineyard Theatre and The New Group.

Avenue Q Is Still Broadway's Funniest Show

Now in it's 6th "Hysterical" year is Avenue Q, the 2004 Tony Award winner for Best Musical. The same show who upset the "Mighty and Powerful"Wicked for Broadway's top prize is still playing to packed houses eight times a week at the John Golden Theatre. Now having seen the show many times I can attest to how funny the show truly is folks. In fact the reason I had to go back so many times is because I missed things the first time because I was laughing so much. Now be advised the show is not for everybody. It's not The Little Mermaid after all. There is some profanity and nudity but it is only the puppets that are nude not the humans. That's right. I said puppets. Oh you didn't know there were puppets in the show? What have you been living under a rock all these years? Now don't worry there are some humans too. I mean how else would the puppets be able to talk and move right? It ain't magic. So if you want to have a great night in the theatre and full frontal puppet nudity is your thing than call Applause now and get your tickets to see Avenue Q in Broadway. It will have you laughing all night long.
